Latest initiative by The Horsa and Sacred Pentagraph Traditions

One of the things religions do is to provide some little free services for benefit of others. Our religious tradition is no different in that we do some of this already through the many blog posts some of us have written, the social media posts etc. The resources and materials are part of our free religious outreach operations.

The latest initiative by our Elders is to share some more content publically, first we are starting with some bacic guided meditations that one of our initiates created called:

Tales from the Witch’s Hearthfire”  it is a YouTube channel, that can be found here:

www.youtube.com/@Horsa_CovenoftheNorthernWolfa

There will also be some live meditations on the Facebook seekers group which can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/horsaseekers

We also have other general themes that are part of our Traditions that will be part of this ourreach project. This will be an ongoing process, and as soon as we release new things we are sure to let you know.

Our Winter Solstice Sabbat

Winter Solstice 2025 at Coven of the Northern Wolfa was such a beautiful celebration of the return of the light.

For us in our Traditions, this Sabbat revolves around the symbolism of the return of the light. This is symbolically represented by lighting candles, decorating with winter greenery, thereby letting the nature spirits know that they are welcome to come out from the cold.

What some don't know is that prior to the Winter Solstice Sabbat, the Covenstead Ritual chamber is thoroughly stripped down, a few days before a short ceremony called “Entering in of Death.”  is performed. This ceremony and the clearing out of the ritual room are metaphor for the period of rest that nature takes during the Winter months, the temple and us as humans also rest after a busy time of year.   The candlesticks and ritual tools are polished, the floors, windows etc. are scrubbed, the cupboards are restocked and tidied, the linens are washed and or replaced. All candles that have been tended or spells that are in progress are moved to a different room.  After all of this is has been completed, during the short ritual, the ritual chamber is cleared out and the Sacred Lamp is snuffed. The ritual room is sealed up cold, bare and lampless and silent.

Then, on the day that the Sabbat is due to take place the ritual room is entered once more and decorated with fresh branches and other festive decor!  The High Priestess sets up the altar and ensures that everything is ready for the ritual feast that usually takes place after the Sabbat ritual.

The candles and fresh greenery that decked the altar and hearth, really warmed up the temple as well as our hearts, that and the hearthfire that we lit, helped to bring life back into the ritual room. Probably one of the most important symbols to us as a coven, is the Sacred Flame that is relit as this Sabbat ritual begins. The Sacred Flame not only brings a sense of joy and warmth that fills the space but also serves as a constant reminder of the sacred, of Divinity and of vitality.  I think we are always surprised at how much we miss the Sacred Flame when it has been stuffed for the time of rest before the Solstice Sabbat!

After the relighting of the sacred flame, the main Sabbat was performed as per our Tradition, and during this Sabbat ritual, each covener is also given a personal blessing and encouragement, which never fails to bring a few tears of joy and appreciation.

After the Sabbat we enjoyed a delicious Sabbat feast!

May the promise of the return of lift your spirits during that last weeks of winter!

Annual Holiday celebration and Coven Fun Day

During Late December, Coven of the Northern Wolfa hosted our annual Coven Fun day. It is tradition to host a formal dinner around the Winter Solstice, but for the past few years our High Priestess has hosted a Coven Fun Day in December to accompany the Traditional formal dinner.

We started the day with a cocktail making competition where everyone had make some of the signature cocktails designed for the occasion, you’ll see some of the fun creations in the photos, we also made purple gin and blue vodka for that extra witchy touch.

Next we had our sit down dinner as is customary… but unfortunately someone got “murdered” and we had a murder mystery on our hands. We had no choice but to solve the crime! This game came with role playing challenges, secret traits for each character that needed to be acted out and let me tell you that everyone threw themselves into character -in true Northern Wolfa style... it was absolutely hilarious.

We spent so much time laughing that solving the crime became secondary to the antics. Sadly none of us were able to solve the crime but we were not surprised to when the true identity of the "killer" was revealed! The prize for best actor was shared between two coveners , although truth be told it was such a close call because everyone’s acting was amazing!

It was such an incredibly fun day a great way to celebrate our coven family!
